Very sorry you’re going through this. What if you switch roles for a moment and instead of being the “dramatic mom,” you be the “cool, fun mom”? Can you invite them all over for dinner or, say, pizza night, and play some board games or regular games afterward? It might open things up for some talking about family problems, but if it doesn’t, you at least got them together to enjoy each other’s company. Just a thought. Or, a casual dinner out somewhere.
