For as long as I can remember, the universe has been playing tricks on me. I was just saying to myself the other day how quiet it is here in the land of small-town, semi-rural Massachusetts, and not even a minute later came a thunderous bang from outside my window, followed by loud, irritating machine noise for hours. What’s next, an earthquake that impacts my house only?
Pacing. Thought only to afflict neurotics, its benefits are underrated. Pacing back and forth while on the phone, listening to music, and thinking kept me in shape for most of my life. It’s good for burning negative energy, collecting thoughts, and achieving cardiovascular benefits.
My son visited the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston with his mother one time and there in one of the trees, they spotted an animal carcass. You’d think the zoo would have taken it down. It had reportedly been up there for some time. For about a week after, all my son talked about was “the dead animal in the tree.”
Fifteen years ago, the number of people typing in ALL CAPS was extraordinary. One could even say it was a borderline social problem. Today, however, that number is a mere fraction of what it once was.
