This is such a no-brainer for me since I live with a disease/condition that has been compared to end-stage AIDS in severe patients and in a study was ranked as having the lowest quality of life out of any major disease on earth.
The suicide rate among sufferers is high. There was a young woman from the Netherlands who had the condition and last year chose to end her life through the assisted suicide clinic in Switzerland. She broadcasted her journey on social media. There was a whole wide array of responses to it.
That said, regarding the topic of physician-assisted death, I would be in favor of making it legal in all US states. (Worldwide, it’s difficult to say because underdeveloped countries have poor healthcare to begin with, so it’s hard to imagine this would even be a consideration in those places.) I think it’s an act of compassion for those who might be suffering the most with a terminal condition.
