RC, I hear you on this. I've heard Medium described as a cross between a blogging platform and a social media site. If this definition is correct, then with respect to the "social media" part, well, that's called engaging with other people. You happen to be someone who prides himself on engagement, and you do it quite well. I don't see the harm it it, honestly. This isn't a platform where you just publish your writing and don't have to put in the effort to read your fellow writers' writing. I'm sure there are a very small minority of people doing only writing and not engaging on here, but I don't think it's the aim of this site. I've also heard the word "collaborative" used when describing Medium.
