Perhaps you should consider taking a year sabattical and living abroad with your family, while renting out your house, if that's at all possible. That would be something. I lived in Europe for a few years and traveled extensively there and it was a hella good time and very fulfilling. It's definitely an education in and of itself, and worth it, IMO. Hope you at least get to do some traveling.
