Malcolm Gladwell wrote a piece in The New Yorker years ago suggesting that school shooters spread like a disease, the idea of copycat killers, saying Columbine kicked off the phenomenon. I remember saying on social media a couple of years ago: “Why do we give these killers or would-be killers so much attention?” Weren’t adoring women writing love letters to Charles Manson when he was in jail?
