It's still writing but obviously more personal. Perhaps some people get shy, or focus on trying to say the perfect thing but just can't come up with the words. You might take hours or days to write a piece, but a comment is usually instantaneous, unless you're some strange cat that prepares for days, undergoing numerous drafts of your comment.
