I’m not in the camp of doing it for the love of the game, I’ll be honest. It is demoralizing to have a financial incentive like that taken away. It felt good to earn some chump change through writing, and it made me, for one, more excited to produce good writing for those that read me. Now I feel like, what’s the point? The enormous shift in the earnings algorithm is pretty ridiculous. We’re now making pennies. Medium needs to work on their business model. Less of an extreme would be ideal. I’m pretty sure they planned this, or either that, then they’re just very stupid.
