Help them to a degree if you wish, so as not to jeopardize your own sanity and finances. Suggest any resources that might be available to them, as you’ve done. Then let nature take its course. Other people can pitch in as well, even strangers. You can always find someone to help, even if a person has nobody. This is America. People do that kind of thing. So basically, boundaries of some sort you’re setting with them, while at the same time sending the message that you care enough to want to help them. They need to help themselves to a degree, of course, as well.
