An important letter to a young Twitter user
Dear Young Twitter User,
Don’t fret. You seem like a caring, compassionate, ambitious, warm-hearted young lady, and although you’re at a crossroads in your life, there is still much hope for you.
However, please be warned: Twitter is no place to find happiness. It’ll chew you up like wax candy and spit you out like … er … um, wax candy.
Certainly, when you least expect it, Twitterland will morph into a prickly beast that sucks your soul dry and leaves you questioning all of humanity. Therefore, I urge you to look elsewhere for developing your identity and finding some semblance of happiness in your life.
If you’ve been in the game as long as I have, you’ll know that Twitter can be a chaotic, judgmental, highly-opinionated, heterogeneous online circus.
And now, with the at-times mumbling, misunderstood martyr Mr. Musk in charge, it is in a state of flux and experiencing a virtual thumb-typing match between leftists, right-wingers, and the peanut gallery over how we define free speech.
And while it’s true that Musk’s impulsive, ad-hoc style to Twitter reform has been met with cheers by his supporters, jeers by his detractors, and undoubtedly fears…
